Ballycroy National Park
Ballycroy National Park is Ireland’s sixth National Park and is located on the Western seaboard in northwest Mayo. It comprises of 11,000 hectares of Atlantic blanket bog and mountainous terrain, covering a vast uninhabited and unspoilt wilderness dominated by the Nephin Beg mountain range. The Park protects a variety of important habitats and species such as Atlantic Blanket Bog and Golden Plover and acts as an education and recreation provider. A visitor Centre houses an interactive exhibition, a nature trail with pond, interpretation panels and viewing point and hosts regular special events and guided tours.

Directions to Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre
Directions from Castlebar
Drive towards the Newport Road and follow the sign posts for Achill (R311).
Follow this road all the way to Newport until you come to a T junction and turn right (the river will be on your left and the entrance to Newport House will be opposite you). You are now on the N59.
Follow this road passing through Tiernaur and Mulranny.
After Mulranny you will come to a Y junction – Keep right here and remain on the N59 signposted for Bangor & Belmullet.
Follow this road until you enter Ballycroy.
The National Park & Visitor Centre Entrance is on the right hand side as you drive through the village, beside the community centre (once you turn of the road the community centre will be on your left) and sign posted, drive down this road which will take you to the entrance for park & visitor centre.
Directions from Westport
Start out on the Newport Road and follow the sign posts for Newport & Achill (N59).
Follow this road all the way to Newport crossing the bridge and driving through the town and towards Mulranny.
Follow this road passing through Tiernaur and Mulranny.
After Mulranny you will come to a Y junction – Keep right here and remain on the N59 signposted for Bangor & Belmullet
Follow this road until you enter Ballycroy.
The National Park & Visitor Centre Entrance is on the right hand side as you drive through the village, beside the community centre (once you turn of the road the community centre will be on your left) and sign posted, drive down this road which will take you to the entrance for park & visitor centre.
Directions from Ballina
Start out on Teeling St in Ballina and at the traffic lights turn left onto the N59 signposted for Belmullet.
Take the first exit of the roundabout
Follow this road passing through Crossmolina.
At Bellacorrick bear right at the staying on the N59 and signed for Belmullet
At Bangor Erris you will come to a crossroads – turn left here sign posted for Westport (N59)
As you enter Ballycroy you will pass the school on you left followed by the community centre. Directions from Belmullet
Start out on Barrack Street and Follow the Ballina/Castlebar Road (R313) to Bangor Erris.
As you enter Bangor Erris you will come to a crossroads - turn right here sign posted for Westport (N59)
