Dead Good Guides
Directed by John Fox and Sue Gill DEAD GOOD GUIDES is an artist led company seeking a role for art that weaves it more fully into the fabric of our lives. Based in a wooden eco house above the shoreline of Morecambe Bay in Cumbria on the North West coast of England. As ‘Engineers of the Imagination’ we create sculpture trails, barn dances, lantern parades, sound installations, wild walks and feral feasts.
Following re awakened traditions of vernacular culture we conjure up stories, music, images and unlikely dreams; celebratory moments that owe nothing to consumer culture. Recent work:
‘The Weather Station’ a four year collaboration with scientists and ecologists, ‘After the Storm’ an arboreal cloister in Falkland, Scotland marking the decimation of a forest, ‘Rites of Passage’ workshops looking at new secular ceremonies for namings, weddings, distinctive funerals and memorial services.
For our catalogue of short films, poetry, prints, woodcuts, books and courses see www.deadgoodguides.com
